Hi folks:
I have created an online repository for us all to use to share files. Many
folks have sent me files to add to baudot.net, and I will eventually get
around to updating the site, but it is always one of those things that get
pushed out. I was going to just add a directory for dumping files, but
this is even better:
I host with godaddy.com, and they have an option called
onlinefilefolder.com. For just $10 a year, I added to baudot.net a 1GB
space for file upload and download, with folder creation management. Just
like the name, it is literally an online file folder. You don't need to
use an ftp client, just point your browser to www.onlinefilefolder.com,
log-in, and upload or download files.
You can quickly send a file, up to 20MB in size, by emailing it as an
attachment to:
baudot at onlinefilefolder.com
If you email a file, it gets placed in the "Dropbox" folder. You can just
leave it there -- I will periodically move dropbox files to more
descriptive folders. Or, and this is even better since I do nothing, you
can log in and move it yourself.
Rather than emailing files, you can just log in to www.onlinefilefolder.com
using you browser, and upload/download (even really big) files using the
simple web browser interface. There is a little folder directory tree on
the left side, a list of the current files in the selected folder in the
center, checkboxes beside the folder names so you can select specific files
or folders to move, rename, or delete. I'll let you figure it out.
To log in to www.onlinefilefolder.com, you enter a username and
password. The username is baudot and the password is available by simply
dropping me an email. I am not putting the password in a greenkeys post,
since the posts are public and archived. I trust that none of you will put
the password in a greenkeys post either.
You do not need a password to send a file (as an attachment) to
baudot at onlinefilefolder.com. If we start getting spam this way, I will
restrict this option (I can force you to enter a special code in the
subject line). For now we'll just keep it simple.
The first folder I added is:
- M28 design papers from Dave Freeman
These docs are pretty cool early design specs from the 28 engineering
group. Sorry it took me so long to make these public Dave.
So there you have it. A big online free-for-all place, so we can all
contribute and share stuff. The rules:
- You must be a greenkeys member (I am the moderator, so I will know)
- No putting the password in greenkeys posts
- No giving the password to anyone else (they must email me directly)
- Only tty, rtty, and greenkeys sort of subject matter
- No personal stuff -- get your own online folder
- No deleting other peoples files or folders (yes, you can delete
everything!).
- Name all your files descriptively, and don't just dump then in the
Home (top) level (put them in folders).
- Put your files into a top-level folder that is descriptively named
(you can have subdirs)
- I will likely grab files to post on baudot.net, but don't presume
these files are backed up.
I this gets abused, I'll change the password to keep out undesirables, or
take it down, so please play fair.
Send me an email, and I'll give you the password.
