Gil,
Here are my responses to your questions:
1) a Western Union Simplex Printer 2-B, made by Morkrum-
Kleinschmidt). It takes 5/16" tape.
I had seven of the above units at one time. All were M-K except one
that was identical but read "Teletype" all used 5/16" tape (all of
it was gummed) all were Western Union.
2) a Western Union version of the model 31, which also uses 5/16"
tape. - The museum has one and it does use 5/16" tape
3) a Teletype Corp. version of the model 31, which uses 3/8" tape. -
The museum has one of these and it uses 3/8" tape.
4) an unusual Teletype Corp. tape printer version of the model 28
typing reperf mechanism (which does not perf, of course); this also
uses 3/8" tape
The museum has a Teletype model 400 "Ticker" that uses 1/2" tape.
The museum also has a M28 KTP which uses 3/8" tape. Also have a
M35KTP that uses 7/8" or 1" tape.
I know there are one or two military versions of the model 31 out
there -- what tape do they use? What about power?
The military M31 the museum has uses 3/8" tape and is powered by
120vac. It has three gear sets inside for 60, 75, or 100 wpm.
I am told there are some aircraft versions that were powered by 28 vdc.
