[GreenKeys] increasing Ribbon tension

   Hi,

   I  am  trying  to put a bit more tension in a ribbon for a Teletype 43
   dot matrix printer. The 'new' ink cartridge that it came with had gone
   a bit off and the ribbon became apparently tangled before and while it
   was  pulled  out  to  be  installed. It seems to have somehow come out
   too far  and  now the print head won't grip it and pull it around back
   in for re inking.

   Anyway  I  think  shortening the ribbon is the only way possible. I've
   pulled  the  cartridge  apart trying to find something I could loop it
   around to give it a bit less room to move but can't be done.

   What  do  you  think  of  folding  the  ribbon onto it self by about a
   centimeter  and putting in a small criss crossed cotton thread to hold
   it together? I don't want to pay US$50 to buy a new one.
