Just to clarify...
National Instruments makes several interface cards that are made in
the PCM/CIA card form factor and have a "dongle" that provides for
EIA 232 or GPIB
Not real cheap but not real expensive either... and the best part is
they support the products they make. We had good results with them
at my last engineering lab assignment.
