Larry,

I believe that you will find that there is an adjustment in the Spacing
Drum, that large round wheel on the right side and front of the typing unit.

On the spacing drum, there are five bolts that hold the front and rear rings
to the Spacing Drum. To number the bolts, the #1, #3, and #5 bolts are
round headed and #2 and #4 are hex headed.

The rear ring controls the right margin. It can be adjusted by loosening
#1, #2, #3 and #5 bolts. You should not loosen #4 as this controls the front
ring (for left margin). You can easily move the rear ring with a
screwdriver. Moving the rear ring counter-clockwise will lengthen the line. Take small
steps, tightening the bolts between steps, and your M28 should be fine.
