Howdie.
Been reading about autostart nets and was very curious about something. I've been copying a midwest rtty net evenings (couldnt seem to coppy w1aw either tues, weds this week) with my harris rf-590H, info-tech m600 with built in loop supply and my model 28KSR and its been wonderful!
What I notice sometimes, is I cannot always produce perfect copy on some of the stations on the net, and find I have to sometimes tweak my freq or bfo. And I was wondering, when autostart nets were popular, I can't imagine leaving a tube radio on all night long with the tty in the basement awaiting its selcal signal and expect it to get good copy unattended!? I seem to be doing quite a little bit of tweaking with a very stable modern receiver. Back in the 60's 70's 80's I gotta figure that transmitters would drift somewhat and receivers would drift somewhat making unattended reception very difficult?
How successful were these autostart nets with unattended receiving?
Eugene
