Hi everyone!
I finally made my first Greenkey on-air contact with Doug, KA2WFT this past
Monday night on VHF! I was using my 28KSR, Dovetron MPC-1000R and an Icom
IC-255A rig. I know Doug was using a 28KSR as well...
Both of us were pretty rusty on the keyboard (especially me since I'd never
actually used one before) - I'm looking forward to running it more to get my
practice up! Anyways, it was a real blast to have an actual exchange with
someone - I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone, even if only on the VHF/UHF bands.
Now, since I'm getting a bit more accustomed to the model 28, I'd like to
learn more about the stuntbox. I have a complete set of manuals and a neat
color brochure about the stuntbox (I need to scan it - it has a lot of great
info/photos). I've already sucessfully re-enabled unshift-on-space by
releasing the lock screw, but I'd like to learn about the other "stunts" that
are installed in my machine. How does one go about de-ciphering whats in
there? There are many more levers installed than the stock box shown in the
manuals. Also, there are a couple of switches mounted on the box as well - I'm
guessing for selective calling?
The machine has several CN Telecommunications tags inside so I'm assuming the
stunts are related to Canadian railroad communications...
Any help would be greatly appreicated!! Also, if there are any other Greenkey
members in the Buffalo, NY area (within VHF simplex range), I'd love to hear
from you! Doug and I would like to get a regular net and possibly an autostart
running in the area. Who knows, we may even get a repeater going...
Thanks and 73,
- Greg K2GTM
