I am sorry to disagree with you Don.  The ST-6 started out as a kit but Hal supplied fully assembled ones as well later on.  My college club station, WA0WKI, got a ready built one in 1970.

Bill Henry from Hal should know all the information.

It doesn't matter too much, kit or factory built, except for the tuning of the filters.  Bill Henry told me that he had a woman working for him that could tune the filter very tight.
