Eugene, I think the other guy that replied was correct.
The first unit was an earlier model.  It seems to me that because of safety concerns with the local loop current that Hal change the back pannel to the molex plugs.

The later model does have the 425 board and the xtal control afsk keyer.

Although the two additional boards are nice to have, the afsk keyer AK-1 which is in the first one was plenty good.

You will find that you will only use 170 hz shift.

I still have my ST-6 except that is was build up from the boards only.  I had to put in my own box.

I used it for a while as a frontend to the PK-232MBX.  Worked well, just a bit large for the desk.
