Quite true about ARPANET, Mike!
 
And does anyone know which Western Union government system ARPANET  displaced?
 
It was AUTODIN...not as resilient system design as ARPANET, which  could lose 
multiple nodes, for whatever reason, and still keep on ticking.

Berners-Lee  invented the World Wide Web, not the Internet.  The Internet was
started  as ARPANET in the 70's.
