All list members,
I am reposting this, as I am in rather urgent need of the below listed
parts. I am trying to restore my mite, and also get the gearset for
same so that it can have if need be, 100 wpm capability.

the 28 ASR was acquired several years ago, and is a real bare bones unit
with 80 gearing....... I would like if possible to obtain the great
unobtanium,, the 3 speed gearshift for the mainshaft, and slso the
somplet set of parts for the underdome reperf...note I have the reperf,
the gearshift, the belts, and the front cover with the tape slot, but no
internsla such as the tape reels, etc. I am trying to restore this to
1960;s USN livery, as the one I have id WU all the way.... Will
entertain trades for WU disto test set, a complete Stelma disto aalyser
*I have a UK Trend unit, and the XYL is getting somewhat irritate about
space, and since I am in the final stages of completing the TTY_connect
project, to use with the Big Bird, I will part (tearfullyO with the
Stelma( Now, I will admit, up front, I don;t want to part with the
stelma, as we have spent many many hours on watch together in the day,
amd amd have troubleshot many a RATT problem when the station with the
problem swore up and down that the problem was at my end (it sure as
hell felt good to be right, and use one;s quarterdek rasp on the
miscreant (no, I never took any diciplanary action, just wnt into
lawnmower mode on said miscreant's posterior, and used it as an
instruntional experience............

I also have several patch panels, 2 red and 3 black, and since the
obtaining of the USS America for our museum foundation looks pretty [ppr
at this point, and I have become Persona Non Grata with NAVSEA (I have
to surmise someone put in a poison pill) I cant even get aboard to strip
out several 28 KSER;s still in CIC which are full up, reperfs, printers,
pristine keyboards, underdabinet power supplies, remote relay boxes for
ASCII>Baudot conversion, crypto interfaces, in other words, all the
bells and whistles.... plus enough patch panels both audio and dc to
supply anyone on this listserver who might want one, including several
massive central loop supplies, many polar relays, at least 8 regen
repeaters, all escaped the demil gorillas hammer, and would have taken
me, even without help less than a day to strip out and make available
for the froup....a sad day indeed..all I got was the damn type
boxes......Don't lose hope..... I am still trying, there is a distinct
possibility that NAVSEA is confusing the USS Anerica Museum Founmdation,
Inc, with the USS America Carrier Veterans Asspcoatom while both are
charitable orgs and tax exempt, the mission is totally different..... we
wamt tp ,ale amuseum, and darn it, if we cant get the ship, then we want
the island (I would like the ship, because I want to get the comm spaces
up and running with that great greenkey sound, and have an agreement in
principle with the powers that be to provide original outside covers of
the various crypto equipment in use at the time, which, of course was
retired after being retired by the traitorous walkers......it would be
very easy to wire them up so the lights flash and the printout looked
real with the appropriate pauses, etc, without any compromise at all,
since there would be nothing inside to give away any sensitive
information,,,,since I was a qualified repairman on all the gear,
duplicating the dime delays, the print/hesitate etc, would just be a
matter of buffering, and the lights would flash, and the system would
"crash: periodically, just like real life, so the visitor could be
treated to screams, salty oaths, use of rubber mallets, lighters, shoes,
threats, including pointing one's .45 (OPNOTE: I always wondered why we
were issued one. Don't get me wrong, I have always loved shooting in
competition, still do, and praciced regularly off the fantail at
whatever we could throw over the side, but I kind of figure that it was
"capture, to be use in case of imminance of, by application to the
brain" at the unit and informing same that if it didn't begin breaking
messages instanter, it would be considered a traitor and ignominously
shot on sight --hi--.... NO, I never did, but it sure as heck drained
off hostility and got a few laughs from the rest of the Facility
Controllers (no the problem was not fixed either, but the emotional
catharthis worked wonders).........

OK I have babbled enough.......I do have something else which I can
offer for trade for partial compensation. I have a complete set of
manuals for the 28ASR, which, rather miraculously, were MY own manuals,
which disappeared for 34 years ++ and which, seeng someone offerning a
set for private sale, purchased, and lo and behold, on the flyleaf, was
neatly printed "GW MOORE RM1 USN USS AMERICA CVA 66 CR DIVISION DO NOT
REMOVE FROM THIS SPACE". As you may surmis, I was literally blown
away, as this is the second time I have bought stuff back, last year, I
bought back my complete set of teletype tools, also from a private
seller, and they were engraved with my name and rate.. talk about
eeerie.........

Anyhow, enough of trips down memory lane.... I will be happy to begin
scanning these voluminous manuals into the puter in pdf format, sure it
will take a while, but I feel that they should be made available, and I
would like to crreake a Jay Waller Memorial page similar to the RTTY com
memorial page on my website, and populate it with manual copies, and
maintenance hints and kinks. I don't have the time, nor the pain free
interval (I have been having the "Migraines from hell" and have been
undergoing tests and seeing all the various neuro types, and the meds
kind of leave me somewhat drifty, so I have to do this (scan) when I can.

Please advise me if anyone can help me with the main gearshift, a TYPING
perforator (I will trade the non typing perf as part payment) and
everything required for an underdome reperf, less the reperf itself and
the front plate with the tape chute. I also could use a pair of
selector magnets for a M14 ROTR, and an external case for same. I could
also use the WE line relay for this *not the 255, the one that firts the
rectangular socket....... I do, as I have previously stated have parts,
etc for trade, including, but not limited to, an AN URA8 2 ANURA-17's
various test sets, many parts of which they are too many to list here,
and of course the Stelma.... I really don't want to part with that damn
stelma, but if it comes down to that or the reperf and the perf, well, I
have a perfectly good TREND unit which does all the stelma does and more....

Let me know what ya got.....

I live in Upper Darby, right outside Philadephia, and pickup would be
the way to go here.... I can't lift much due to the state of my back,
although I try ans spend the next 8-9 days payng for my sins --hi-- and
listneng to the laughter from the XYL and daughter (OPNOTE: for some
reason, like most XYL/YL's they seem to class heavy metal in the "Junk"
category...any amount of stating "But!!! That's not Junk, that's PURE
UNOBTANIUM, a brand new element, not heretofore found in nature, and
priceless, even though one can't acutally sell the equipment, it's just
too valuable to sell --hii-- (they bough this?? I don't know?"" This
argument also works on hollow state devices, hollow state components in
boxes, heavy duty aircraft style switches, large pilot lamp assemblies,
etc, and my favorite, the plaque with a rudder/body flap position
transducer from the Shuttle program with a suitable engraved brass plate
listing all the engineers who spent the 20 hour days finalizing the
dssign, and is mounted complete with the 10 grand/ft cables protruding
threrfrom, of which the specs decreed should be 6 feet in length for
acceptance, yet when one came back for rework, one couldn't help but
notice that they were cut off to 7 inches in length and connectors were
attached (no I don't know where the rest of this wonderful stuff went)..
What a country.....

Thanky for any help........ I will be posting shorly about a dot matrix
crypto printer, which also has baudot cpability, and all I need is a
darn pinout, so I can power it up, and get it to print with the
TTY-Connect progrm as well, but that's for another time....

I trust all had a happy, safe, and filling Thanksgiving,

73 se tnx de Greg "GW" Moore WA3IVX/NNN0BVN

The only two modes of comms worth consideration are Morse and Ratt suing
5 level Baudot code. All else are poseurs and charlatans!!!!!!

Gentlemen:

I am in need of some information and also a couple of parts for both my
Mite and my M28ASR.

My Mite, (TT299B/UG) with the (CY-2977A/UG) Has been "dinged" on the
front portion of the case, in such a fashion that the local buttons for
LF, etc jam.... Now, I realize that if I drill out the rivets, and do
come old fashioned body work, of witch I am quite familiar, everything
would be OK.

However, being disabled from various fun activites in my younger days, I
would much rather try to come across a replacement cover from someone
who is stripping out for parts. I would also appreciate a source for
the .1 A fuse (the miniature one, I can't seem to find one in the correct
value, only approximate....

In addition, if someone has a 100WPM gear for said animal, or know where
one can be found,
I also would be greatly appreciated, as mine came geared for 60, and the
stud where the speed change grears were stored was conspicuously empty--hi--

OK, on to the model 28ASR.......

I need a TYPING perforator,

also a mounting base, motor, and all else necessary to install a typing
reperf in said unit (I have many typing reperfs, many ribbons, and
various other bits, but not the set for the M28 typing reperf.
I could provide a list of the pat numbers, but it is too early in the
moring for me to get the M28 manual out, (funny story here) I left my
original complete set of M28 Manuals aboard the USS America (CVA/CV-66)
when I departed her 32 years ago, and bought a set thru private sale
last year.. LO and behold, inside the front cover were neatly lettered
my name and rank, so, like a feline, they eventually found their way
home--hi--

I would be interested in a couple of sockets for a WE255 polar relay, as
well as 2 relays of the type used on the M14 (uses the long socket)
again, I could give you part numbers at request, but I don't have the
manuals handy. If you have a set of selector mags for an M14 reperf,
they would also be a nice touch,

Anyhow, shopping list ended,, ooooops.......if ANYONE has a 3 speed
gearshft for an M28ASR mainshaft, that would be the icing on the cake...
I realize I am requesting unobtanium, but it can't hurt (much) to ask.....

73 es tnx for listening to my babble....
