Was Nassau a division of WE, or just a supplier?  (Not that it really 
matters...)

NASSAU smelting was owned by Western Electric. (It mattered to WECO)

What WAS "Telephone Ointment"?

The best stuff on the planet for burns.  It was later replaced by 
"Medicated Ointment" that was a different formula and did not work as 
well.  Most of the items in the Bell System First Aid Kits were 
produced by the Medical Supply Company in Rockford, IL under contract 
to Western Electric.

I am still looking for any quantity of "Telephone Ointment"  I would 
even pay for an almost empty tube.  Steve Schlink has very kindly 
already provided me with a package of Medicated Ointment tubes.
