[GreenKeys] HoffNet (for what it's worth, etc.)

Hi Richard,
Some one mentioned a cheap and very inexpensive transceiver that was
originally set up for CW but should receive FSK just fine. You would
have to modify it so that you could FSK the oscillator but that should
not be too much trouble. Feed the output into a 200 watt linear and you
are there !
Here is the link: http://www.smallwonderlabs.com/
DSW-II- Series Transceiver Kit
Monoband CW, single-band
The DSW-II uses a PIC microcontroller and an AD9835 Direct Digital
Synthesis (DDS) chip to achieve crystal-based stability and full-band
tuning range.
Price is $150 Bucks
You would need a Terminal Unit (Dovetron, Hal ST-6, etc) and that's it.
It puts out only 5 watts so you would want to run it through a linear to
build the power up to 200 watts (max allowed on the band).
But that is about the cheapest and easiest way I know to get a station
on 10.137300 (Mark) FSK both receive and transmit.
Best regards -- Roy Norris, K4EEG

AND....for what it's worth, this station is all pre-WARC, so I have no
30
meter capability, but have a model 15 & 28, plus lots of computer RTTY
stuff...
So what say some of you....what is a cheap and dirty way for a
boatanchor
shack to get on 30 meters? And how about some plans for building one of
them there 30 meter dipole thingys...I'm rarin' to go!
Regard,
Richard kn7sfz
