Hi Gary,
That caught me for a moment as well. But if the first character of the
next line is a number, for example, such as would be the case when
making a selective call (ie, 4EEG), then it would be redundant to first
send two or three (LTRS) characters immediately followed by two (FIGS).
Since most lines begin with letters, the normal case would be to end the
previous line with (CR)(CR)(LF)(LTRS)(LTRS).
If you, as I do out of habit, always end a line with
(cr)(cr)(lf)(ltrs)(ltrs) and the next line begins with a number, there
is nothing wrong with sending:
(CR)(CR)(LF)(LTRS)(LTRS)(FIGS)(F(GS) if the first character of the new
line is a number or other figures character. It just is not necessary
