Once again have been enjoying watching the start up of the network. The
format for LTRS, FIGS, UOS, etc you have been discussing brings back good memories
that had been forgotton. Working for Western Union and myself on teletype
for a quite few years, one of the funtions of the test line was to type a full
line of text as in:
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog's back 1234567890 times.
which is 69 characters, I believe. Leave out the apostrophe in dog's and you
get 68.
This makes sure the machine was adjusted to receive a full line of text.
I could type the fox and the now is the time test lines at very high speed,
but my normal typing speed is 30-40 WPM.
