Tom,

Some of the milatary surplus ribbons are 30 or 40 years old and the ink does dry out. I've used WD-40 to revive them and it works, sometimes better than others. It seems like something with more oil in it would work better. There is a website that sells tubes of re-inking ink. I'd have to search my archives to find it though. While you can go to your local office supply store to buy replacement ribbons for about $3.50 each, if you have a lot of machines to restore or just want to stock up try this: Go to ebay and search for OKIDATA MICROLINE and look at the auctions to find ribbons for models 80, 82, 82a, 83, 83a, 90, 92, 93. Frequently a brand new case of 12 can be bought for about $6, shipping included!
