[GreenKeys] Problems on Proposed Autostart Frequency 10.133

Hi Fred,
Well, I am the culprit that "deserves to be shot". The choice of
10.1375 was an attempt to offer the widest possible channel between two
commercial broadcast stations on 10.135 and 10.140. Also, I was unaware
that there was a net on 10.137 on Saturdays.
Several other people have written with concerns about the 500 hz matter
with the 10.1375 frequency. Much military and commercial gear as well
would have difficulty hitting that frequency.
Our alternative would seem to be 10.127 . I say that as opposed to
10.1275 as there is a very strong commercial/military encrypted RTTY
station 10.1295 Mark that shifts down 425 hz. By Moving to to 10.127
instead of 10.1375 or 10.1275 we accomplish three things:
1) we remove an impairment to operators of military and commercial gear.
2) we avoid interference from and to the Chatter net on 10.127 mhz
3) we avoid the strong RTTY station at 10.1295
10.127 is pretty clear. Not quite as clear as 10.1375 but I think
completely workable.
What say the Group for a switch to 10.127 ??
Best regards -- Roy Norris, K4EEG

Gang,
I've been lurking for a bit on this "autostart net" project. I
am not
that active on the air so I will not be a major player in the net, but
some comments:
A. NO .5 Kc channels. Whoever came up with that a while back
should be
shot! It requires people with some commercial and military gear to take
a back seat as some of us do not have "modern" DC to Daylight radios
with
1 cycle readout. I believe it started with the idea of 2.5 Kc channels
because of typical SSB bandwidth. Not a bad idea at first thought, I
might not even care if I had a new radio!!
On a similar note I cannot use my only radios capable of 60
meters
because of this "center of channel" bit, lets just use the dial or
window
frequency and leave it at that.
B. 10.137 Kc is our (Clatternet) frequency. Saturday mornings,
USB,
850 cycle shift, Mark low. Net moves to 7087 Kc at times for
propagation
reasons. Like any other freq. these are not "ours" so could be used if
all other options fail. Please join us if you can, most participants
use
military mechanical gear but anything is welcome.
3. As others have said, lets not turn this into a tech fest.
If people
what to send "private" messages badly enough let them use e-mail. Lets
just get this vintage stuff on the air, as my friend Chris K6FIB coined
"It's the clatter that matters".
Another country heard from.
Thanks for your time,

did I leave that polar relay?)
