Hi All,

I know that this $20,000.00 teletype guy has made some of use blue in the face. I had sent him an e-mail to ask about his reasoning.

I received the e-mail below. I think that this guy latched onto an idea and was hoping to make some money with the U.S. Govt. making a purchase of hard to come by items via e-bay.

I for one was quick to judge and thought this guy was crazy. He is a WWII Vet and maybe we have all misjudged him.

Besides, he may be able to contribute to the list. Who are we to say who is crazy, when others who don't understand our love of Teletypes, even if it is a dying art, may think we are crazy as well.

Just my two cents worth.

Hello, I have 10 of the AN/UGC 129(V)1's left in my inventory. When I purchased them from the Department of Defense, I had papers showing what the government paid for them. $20,000 plus. I still have some, either new or reconditioned AN/UGC 77's and AN/UGC-136AX's that cost almost $30,000. That was the prices paid back in their hey-day. Just imagine what inflation has done....Did you see my offer on greenkeys? 73's John Bartholomew in WV P.S. I sure would like to have some of the Mark 7 ECM ( cryptographic) machines like I maintained on the Battleship North Carolina back in WW2.

John Barthlomew is a good man. I have done business with him and his
son, John Jr. for several years.
