Well there may be a bit of truth to the man's text...

The U.S. Army and U.S.Marine Corps have discovered that the newest 
equipment used for local tactical  communications is not operating 
well in the heat and sand of the Iraq environment.  Before Warren 
Brader was sent overseas he mentioned that he was having to train 
military communications persons on the AN/UGC-74 because it works 
well in bad environments.  He was estimating that the Army and Marine 
Corps might be interested in buying back these units from surplus as 
well as the UGC-129 for communications in bad environments.
