Was it in 1976 when RTTY magazine ran a WAS contest?  Had to be
completed in 30 days.  Hank kinda got his butt in a sling cause at
sometime towards the end of it he donated a Dovetron Tu to the winner. 
Kinda drew a lot of fire for that one.  I don't remember who won the
contest and whther or not they ended up getting the tu or not.  I think
the FCC spoke up on that one. During that month the contest was running
i took a lot of "long lunch hours".  Made WAS in 30 days but i was down
the list from the number 1 spot.

I printed WB2LRR numerous times.  Remember seeing the call sign and may
have chatted with him as well.  WOrld keeps getting smaller.

Knew Hank personally.  Last few hamfests he was at he seemed to becoming
more and more frail.  Nice guy and bargained well.  Story of his qth
down on the border is interesting as well.

Larry
