Gil,

I had the same problem with earlier versions of Eudora.  I lost 
everything in my IN box because all the messages were totally 
jumbled.  Since updating to version 5.2 all of those problems seem to 
have gone away and the program works faster and is easier to control. 
I suggest you go to the Eudora website and update your program.
