Larry,
From what I've seen of the old ST-6's, not all have the AFSK generator. The
ST-6 is only a demodulator, unless the "optional" AK-1 (or the crystal
controlled XTK-1 or some such nomenclature) is installed. If you have the
AK-1, you will have the 2 mv and 20mv outputs, even if they aren't brought
to the back panel. I prefer FSK myself, since it is easier for me to
control the rig, but Gil is right, a very simple pad (or old stereo L-Pad
you used for speakers) will control the 20mv output just fine. The 2mv
seemed to be a nice match for all of the old Drake high impedance mic
inputs, and much easier than the FSK "mod" to the PTO, hi hi. You're sure
bringing back the "good old days", Larry!! Hope to see you on that dead 20m
band soon. I'm close to getting some old Hal stuff on line myself.
Vy 73,
Don, WB5HAK
