From what I hear, "stock tickers" are quite rare because they were
systematically destroyed upon decommisioning to prevent fradulent use.
"Classic" tickers of the glass bell jar type fetch astronomical prices.
When these are in good condition, prices of $10,000-$15,000 are not unheard
of. Then again, this very list heard from a guy who bought a ticker from a
clock repairman for a few hundred dollars.
There is a small company that makes replicas, the Stock Ticker Co.
(http://www.stocktickercompany.com/). When you visit their web site, you
can't find a price anywhere. Why? Because, "If you have to ask, you can't
afford it." So I asked anyway... and, if I remember right, they were
quoting something like $23,000 with a "free" year's worth of real-time stock
quotes. Yikes!
