Don - I would be interested in hearing more about the SIGTOT Encryption
System that you have. I joined the Army in 1954 and served until 1957
and then worked as a civilian with the Dept of Army until 1959. I
remember working on the machines, but I don't remember what the
different models were. I guess my memory is failing me! I worked on code
equipment for the State Department from 1959 to 1963, but I can't
remember the model number of the machines that we used. I could probably
fix any of the old machines if I had them in front of me, but the
details of the different equipment is what I have a problem with
remembering.
Encryted messages were usually sent out on local telephone services and
more than once I've been contacted by the telephone companies and told
that our signal was garbled and they were working on getting it fixed. I
had to tell them that it was supposed to be garbled, and if it wasn't,
we had a BIG problem. They never seemed to be able to understand that.
