Thanks Don,
Yes, it looks quite impressive even just sitting there as a
"shack decoration"! I've searched all the "dark recesses"
of the internet as well, and came up with NADA! Not
even a PHOTO of one of these! So I will put a few on
my website for the international community to drool over.
Heck, I found more information for an antique fire dispatch
console (from the 1800's with the telegraph clacker) that
I've been able to find out about Dovetron! I had the guy's
e-mail address who owned Dovetron, and was going to
buy a manual from him at one time. I guess I should have
done it then. Maybe I might be able to dig it out of my
e-mail archives if I didn't erase it. I tell you- if we don't
preserve this stuff, it will all be dead and gone and nobody
will remember it 20 years from now! I had a model 29ASR
that was a new/refurb from the military several years ago.
BEAUTIFUL brand-new condition. I never could find
anyone who could tell me how to hook her up, and the
3 manuals were about 900 pages thick. The connections
were so numerous, and I didn't know the difference between
a 20mA loop or a 60mA loop, or what wire went where,
and I finally gave it away to a dumpster-diving friend of
mine for scrap! I'm hating life now! Had the reperf, multi-speed
transmission, and all! But I really didn't have the room to
store it another year. :-( Oh well. I'm going to persevere a
little this time until I get something going.
Do you know if I must have a level converter to go from the
+5 -5 +12 -12 stuff on the back of the Dovetron to connect
it to the PC?
Hope you don't mind, I'm cc:'ing a copy to the greenkeys
group just in case so I don't have to do a resend later.
Query to list boss: how many members here?
