OK - thanks to everyone for the assistance.  The problem turned out
to be the port address I was using for COM4.

I've just uploaded a fresh version of Heavy Metal (1.06) to

I've also fixed (again) the AP Top News feature.  The email schemes for getting
news currently being discussed sound promising.  I'm finding it somewhat 
difficult to keep Heavy Metal's simulated newswire feature working because
the news sites on the web I'm snagging the stories from keep changing - which
breaks my filters.

Anyway, here's version 1.06 - let me know if something doesn't work the
way it should, you think it should or the way you'd like it to.
