[Great-River-DX] FW: [Mailman Admins] 2012 Donation Request

This is a note I received because I am an admin to some of the email lists
on QSL.net, including this one.
Please read it over and if you appreciate the service KA9FOX provides
(QSL.net and QTH.com), make a small donation. This email list is supplied by
QSL.net (KA9FOX).
We took up a collection a couple of years ago and I used it to register the
greatriverdx.com domain name and sent in the remainder to qth.net as a
donation for the email list. I did not ask for any donations this year and
will not if a few of us can afford to donate a few dollars to QSL.net.

Thanks

Danny NG9R

Subject: [Mailman Admins] 2012 Donation Request

Dear mailman.qth.net mailing list administrator:

We hope your mailing list is working well (and, if not, certainly let us
know by using the "Contact Us" form at http://www.qsl.net)

It's been one year since we last sent out a request for donations. The time
has come where we need to do make another request. We've set up a web page
that describes what improvements we've made in the last 3 years, and why it
is important to support our efforts. See http://www.qsl.net/news.html

As you may know, the suggested annual donation for list owners is $25 per
mailing list. Alternatively, you can ask your list members to make
individual contributions.

If you have not made a donation in the last 12 months, making a donation now
would be greatly appreciated. See http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

If you prefer to have your list members make individual contributions, we
would ask that you send out an email to your list members, asking them to
support QSL.net.

   A) You can create your own personal email, and provide the informational
link to http://www.qsl.net/news.html and/or the donation link of
http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

   B) Or you can use the text below for your email... just copy and paste
the text below and send it out to your list address. Please do not forward
this entire message. The message above is only intended for you, the list
Administrator.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this message.

Thank you for your support, and 73 !

MESSAGE THAT CAN BE SENT TO YOUR LIST MEMBERS:
=============================================

Dear QSL.net users,

We hope you are enjoying the services we provide, such as free Web Hosting,
Email Forwarding, Mailing Lists and DX Log Search.

In January 2009, K3TKJ retired from offering these services, and turned
offer these systems to KA9FOX and K5TR. Since then, a number of
improvements have been made:

1) All services migrated to fast, new servers.

2) Servers now located in a state-of-the-art Data Center, with multiple
high-bandwidth Internet connections.

3) A powerful Self-help System was created, to allow our users to:
 ** Request Password Reset.
** Change Password to something easier to remember.
 ** Change E-Mail Forwarding address.
** Enable or Disable Web Hosting Account.
** Enable or Disable E-Mail Forwarding Service.
** Donation tracking (beta) -- will allow you to see your donations.
To use the Self-Help System, go to http://www.qsl.net and click "Login"

4) A Support Ticket System was created, to allow users to open a ticket for
assistance with any of our services. A BIG thank you to JR Smullen WJ3R for
his help with answering support tickets! To submit a ticket for assistance,
go to http://www.qsl.net and click "Contact Us".

We have received many positive comments on how fast web pages are being
served and how reliable our services have been. The new Self-Help system is
also making it possible for users to manage their services with ease, and
has been very well received. Thank you for your positive feedback!

For over 16 years, QSL.net has been dedicated to the sole purpose of
furthering the abilities and interests of the Amateur Radio Community, with
free Internet services for hams. QSL.net now needs to ask you for something
in return. Your financial support.

In addition to the data center bandwidth & hardware costs, we have hundreds
of hours of time involved in answering support tickets (over
7,000 tickets since Jan 2009), programming and maintaining the Self-Help and
Ticket systems, as well as the day-to-day administrative tasks of keeping
all systems GO.

QSL.net exists solely on your donations!

Would you be willing to put something in our Tip Jar to say Thank you?

If so, see our Donation page at http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Donations can
be sent via PayPal, Credit Card, Check or Money Order, and would be GREATLY
APPRECIATED.

Thank you for your support and 73!

Scott KA9FOX
George K5TR
