Jay I don'tt know anyone in this area who has a Steppir antenna. From the reports I read on various forums, DX nets, etc. say the Steppir far exceeds any trapped tri-bander in performance.
So I would say to use the Packard Motor Car (now SK) slogan, "ask the man who owns one". From the prices I see in print and on the various web pages they are quite expensive compared to other available tri-banders.
Remember this, antenna gain specs are not always what they claim. Apparently no manufacturer has to prove that their antenna's really do have 5db gain or whatever.
Read paragraph two again.
Good luck, keep us informed on your decision.

Looking at the specs shows the Mosley with 2-3 db more gain than the Steppir
but I am not sure how true to form that is.

Hi Jay,
I am interested in how the StepIR stands up against the old tribanders. My
guess is the StepIR will be at least as good if not better on most bands,
due to being full sized elements that can be optimized in length, if not on
spacing on the boom. I don't know of anyone close by that has one but at
least a couple of guys are thinking about them as well.

will get it started hi.
