Hi Jay. I don't have any experience with the Steppir so can't be of direct
help - I use an old KLM KT34XA for 10-15-20. But I saw this post yesterday
on the Eastern Iowa DX Association reflector from W3ACO, whose Steppir
apparently survived 3/4 inch ice storm, other than the boom rotating a bit.
Rich might be able to give you some feedback on how the Steppir plays.

Subject: [EIDXA] Ice storm
Just got back from Oregon. Escaped the ice storm.
Re antennas, my three wire antennas are all down. Big branches fell from two
trees taking the wires with them. My Steppir survived very nicely. I picked
up pieces of ice below the Steppir that were the shape of the elements.
There was at least 3/4" thick ice on them. No broken elements. Just checked
SWR at several places. All looks OK. However, the elements are no longer
completely horizontal. The boom rotated a bit in the two mast to boom clamps
so the antenna tilts to the right about 5 or 10 degrees.
How did others do?
Rich W3ACO
