Hi Hugh,
Not all the Oncore family members provide NMEA output, the UT+ (which is one of the preferred ones for timing applications) does not. You can send it the message to do so with the WinOncore12 application, but it just stops sending anything. It is only capable of sending Motorola binary data, which is more efficient but not so nice since not every byte has a printable ASCII character. This means that you'll see garbage if you try to look at it from a serial port monitoring application. The specification for the propietary motorola protocol is very clear and easy to work with.
I've been doing some work with it for my GPSDO. What do you want the NMEA stream for?
