Hi Mat,
I agree with Bert about the quality of the GPS engine. The only caveat to
shooting for the higher accuracy, is that the OCXO has to live up to the
higher expectations too. To improve accuracy requires a greater integration
time, and this then relies on better short term stability of the OCXO.
with a cheaper OCXO and a better GPS engine you are on a winner as the
significantly lower jitter on the 1PPS allows for relatively shorter
integration times. My standard has been running for months now and performs
extremely well.

I still have a number of the Trimble Palisade GPS integrated receiver /
antennas available (though still no connectors for them) These are dedicated
timing grade systems, that output low jitter 1PPS, and are ideally suited to
the ZAZ standard.
The connection is via a 12pin connector carrying RS422 differential serial
format data , 1PPS and 12V. Twisted pair cable is needed and an interface
from RS422 to TTL can be made with a couple of standard chips.
I managed to construct a crude connector by dismantling other connectors for
the contacts, and sleveing them with heatshrink. the whole lot is just taped
up, and so long as it is not under mechanical strain, will work fine.

The units are designed for permanent exterior use.
More detail on these can be found on my website at www.dc2light.co.uk. (inc
full handbook and software)
They are available for GB£25 each + postage (about GB£6 to the US £5 to
Europe)

To the Hungarian Radio Amateur who inquired a while ago, I seem to have lost
