Hello Paul/List:
You trying to start a Gonset war Paul??
I still have a couple of SCR-522 rigs here but sadly not but one or two ops
who can even spell 2 meter AM.
I finally found me an ARC-4 which I have wanted to convert since 1957!!
It does not have a cover so if anyone has a "parts unit" I would like to
hear frm them (or I will fake one). Its about half converted now. I
removed the
"emergency converter" just like the conversion artical. Now that I am
half way smart(?) I can see that the receiver will be real poor in
comparison to my
converted 522 rigs. Maybe I will have to dig out a couple of 416B tubes??
Oh....and the Gooney Bird, I have several here in reconstruction and, if you
ever come across a yellow 2 meter one with ALL of the paint sanded off
one side,
that one is mine. I used to put it in my VW Bug rear "Boot" and the rough
carpet lining the boot sanded off the fresh yellow paint going up and
down Mt Tom and a couple of other mountains in Western Mass. The VW
could barely make it up the mountain roads and I got kinda "sea sick"
because the inclination of the
road often was steep enough that all you could see was sky.
I loved hilltopping!! Now I am lucky to find a bump in the road.
