My G76 isn't breakin CW but is 'Switch to send." So there is no problem on
losing first dit, John, at least with the model I have, as the relays are 'in'
when the TR switch is in transmit position. But then I don't use it on CW
anyway as it isn't really very stable in keeping with CW standards today. It
is a really good AM rig, though.

When I got mine it needed minor things, to put it on the air. One area of
trouble I had was the power connector, with worn pins. The other area is the
two relays. I dismantled them and cleaned them gently and completely. I'm
told this is a recurring problem with these relays and I suppose they could be
replaced with something more modern and durable but if you like the stock G76
then cleaning them is not a serious problem. The clamp tube was shorted in
mine, so I replaced that plus the modulators and the final. A bent plate on
the loading capacitor also created a problem, fixed easily in a matter of
seconds.

So far it is a good rig and works very well, with a very sensitive (but not
very selective) receiver. You will enjoy yours I'm sure. Reports on mine are
good audio. Using a Shure 444 mic with it. These little rigs make neat AM
rigs without requiring an awful lot of desk space.
