Subject: Note From Joe and Marie D
Greetings To All:
My initial response to the Society’s decision went out on the Communicator’s mailing list, but I decided to post here today because there are many volunteers on this list that are not Communicators, but long time volunteers that we have worked closely and side by side with for many years. It will also go out on the Communicator’s Email List, so I apologize if you are receiving it twice.
As most of you know me, as of last year, I hit my milestone as a volunteer for 25 years. I started on the Transportation side, until the Society asked me to get my Amateur Radio License to take over the Communications, and did so happily, along side of my better half Marie who most of you know has been living with PPMS for as many years, and we have always been honored to be a part of this Community, but the bigger Community was all of the volunteers that we worked along side of which included non Amateur Radio Operators.
I was a volunteer here, but have been in business and management for almost 50 years, and change is always inevitable. A lot of people believe that “if it is not broken – don’t fix it”, but those of you who worked closely with me know that I was always trying new things to try to make our operation better. Some worked, and some did not.
Once again, I want to THANK all the volunteers that we worked with for all these years, and say what an Honor it has bee to do so. With this in mind, I truly hope that the Society’s decision was not made in any part to their displeasure in me or my work ethic, if so, I apologize. I do regret that I did not have the opportunity to debrief the 2025 event to address the problems that were out there that we addressed and rectified, and may not have been included in the debriefs that they had.
The messages of support and allegiance that I received from so many of you just once again touched us so deeply, words can not express. WE WILL MISS WORKING WITH YOU ALL. Those of you who decide to volunteer in a different capacity this year, we would never hold that against you and wish you the best of luck.
No one knows what the future holds for any of us. So, keep your heads up high, be proud of yourselves, and never let the actions of others alter your resolve.
YOURS IN FRIENDSHIP AND RESPECT,
Mare (KC2SFA) and Joe D (KC2SFB)
With Much Appreciation
