The snow has finally melted to allow safe driving to the clubhouse, so the clubhouse will be open on Saturday and the Tech Saturday session on amateur packet radio will be presented starting at the usual 9 AM. The parking area is likely to be pretty muddy so wear appropriate footwear.

The session topic will be "Intro to Amateur Packet Radio", an overview of one of the first digital radio modes that's still in active use today. We'll cover the structure of a "packet" and how it differs from more recent modes such as FT8, how a packet QSO occurs, and several packet-based applications such as APRS and Winlink. We'll also discuss how to connect the various radio components together to communicate using packet radio. If you're interested in digital ham communications this session is the "baseline" for more complex modes like FT8 and the modes used for moonbounce and meteor scatter that will be discussed at the March Tech Saturday. Hope to see you back at the clubhouse on Saturday.
