Mark KK2L,
If you used TELNET when running Winlink Express, then your message
went to the Winlink Servers via the Internet and no RF was involved.
But if you used PACKET, VARA FM or other modem it went via RF to the
W2MMD RMS (Radio Message Server) and then W2MMD served as a Gateway to the
Winlink Servers via the Internet. You can prove this to yourself simply by
turning off your radio. If the message goes nowhere, then you are
configured for RF.
HOWEVER, I just searched the message viewer on the winlink.org
website and can find no record that KK2L has sent a Winlink message within
the last 30 days. Are you sure you are running Winlink Express and using
the Winlink system? I am able to view recent messages from W2ILT, KD2VQA
etc. Also, I don't know if W2MMD-3 has been up and running lately.

Subject: [GCARC] WINLINK Question
Good Evening All,
I just got my MOBILINKD 4 TNC and am using it with a Baofeng. No problem
getting APRS messages with my iPhone app APRS.FI. I am attempting, now, to
use Winlink which I am registered with. It is also working, I think. My
computer is Bluetooth paired with the TNC and the radio is set to the club
Winlink Gateway frequency 145.030. I have sent and received two test e-mail
messages right away but I am wondering if these messages went RF or through
the web. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I check this? My WINLINK
address is kk2l at winlink.org mailto:kk2l at winlink.org. Thanks for any help
you can offer.
