[GCARC] Antenna question

Mary -- I concur with Tony's assessment about multiple antennas being a
good choice, if you have the real estate in which to install them. First
of all, there is generally a considerable difference in take-off angles
between the vertical and the horizontally-oriented antennas. While the
verticals will generally give a lower takeoff angle and therefore some
better DX, Tony is absolutely correct about the potential noise levels.
The Hustler 5BTV is a great choice, but remember to install an adequate
radial field.

If I ever get them all up, my HF antennas will include a 3-band fan dipole
in an inverted V configuration, a 6-band hex beam, a dedicated 6-meter
hen-delta, and the 5BTV with a radial plate and upwards of 60 radial
wires. There will also be a 40-meter end-fed sloper from my house roof to
my garage roof. My VHF/UHF antennas will include an Ed Fong dual-band
J-pole on a mast over my Arrow 2-meter Yagi on a rotator, a Comet CX-333
tribander on a Baird non-penetrating roof mount, and my homebrew copper
pipe 1.25-meter j-pole on a side bracket on the NPRM.

I really can't wait to get these all installed. For now, my only HF
ability is from the car via my FT-891 or via the Club's remote HF station.

All of this is said to illustrate the point of more antennas is better!
You cannot have too many!
