For any new Yaesu FTDX3000 users (I know at one besides me).I have
discovered a rig control pgm called Win4Yaesu ($50, with a full version free
30-day trial). They also have Win4Icom, which I had tried. I complained last
night on the 10m net about the 200 menu items one must scroll through. All
my menu complaints are greatly reduced now with this pgm. You can save all
the menu parameters for backup, or making changes without scrolling through
the rig. The spectrum display and waterfall are very nice, and all radio
functions can be manipulated. Yaesu also has a free pgm, PCC3000 but I have
not tried it. Overall, the rig seems to be very versatile, has excellent
audio and all the parameters anyone would want to optimize, including
parametric EQ for the mic with and without the speech processor, separate
settings. I like the connectivity, including RX Out, IF Out and RX ant In.
It has all the I/O one needs. However, the spectrum display and waterfall
are a joke compared to those from Icom. With the small screens on these
rigs, if you want the waterfall, you need to use an external display,
period. A cheap SDR will do that job. Yaesu has a $500 off deal going until
mid Nov, and right now HRO is taking another $50 off, not sure when that
ends, but it's soon.
