Announcing 2011 Skywarn Recognition Day!
2011 SKYWARNTM Recognition Day
December 3, 2011, from 0000z to 2400z
SKYWARNTM Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather
Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions
that volunteer SKYWARNTM radio operators make to the National Weather
Service. During the day SKYWARNTM operators visit NWS offices and contact
other radio operators across the world.

Once again, the members of our local clubs, Martin County SkywarnT and the
Treasure Coast Weather NetworkT have been invited to help out the National
Weather Service in Melbourne in this year's Skywarn Recognition Day event
beginning at 1900 hrs. on Friday evening December 2nd thru 1900 hrs. on
Saturday evening December 3rd at the National Weather Service, Croton Rd in
Melbourne Florida. (map below). We are looking for operators and loggers to
help out during this event. Whatever time you can give to help us out would
really help. We will be operating many modes of communications including cw,
hf, psk, d-star, packet, aprs, echolink and more. A lot of the antennas have
already been staged and we will have the final installations during the day
On Friday the 2nd. On Saturday during the day there will also be tours of
the NWS. This event is a very good event and everyone usually has a great
time, whether they operate or not.
If you have some time on either Friday evening or during the day on
Saturday, please come up to the NWS and help the amateur radio station
WX4MLB make as many contacts as possible during this 24 hour event and help
us recognize those amateurs throughout the country and world who volunteer
their time and equipment with the reporting of severe weather events to
their National Weather Services.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
For final details of the event, please tune into the Treasure Coast Weather
Net this Sunday evening at 2100 hr. on the 146.775 (PL 107.2) repeater.
