      FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  10/12/2011
 
      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was chaired by President, Kevin Walker, W4KKW.  Attendance was 21. Visitors were Joann Bolte, Mark Poziomek, W4POZ, and Dwayne Duncan.
 
      MINUTES: The minutes of the September meeting were approved as distributed, after motion by Harry, KJ4SRY, and seconded by Herb, W1QPD.
 
      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed after motion by Kurt, W4KFH, and seconded by Ed, W4EVH.
   
      We had a short business meeting after a program by the Red Cross. Mark Poziomek, W4POZ, and Dwayne Duncan showed a Red Cross movie after displaying one of the Red Cross' ECRVs, Emergency Communications Response Vehicles. It is one of 10 2002 Ford diesel Excursion SUVs that Ford donated to the Red Cross many years ago. Nine of them were turned into ECRVs. It is packed with radios and antennas, including a tall pneumatic tower. The ECRVs are the Red Cross' first responder vehicles.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, asked Kurt, W4KFH, to tell us about the Melbourne Hamfest. He said that it rained almost all day and there was no tailgate section to speak of.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, asked Carl, W7RCW, to tell us about our upcoming Christmas party. Cart said that it will again be at his and Betty's home, on December 10, 2011 (changed to Dec.3rd.). Carl said that since it will be dark by 5pm, we should eat about 3:30 -4 pm. He said members can come at 1-2 pm to socialize. Carl said don't forget a white elephant gift.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, said that Trent, N4WKL, had to leave the meeting early, but wanted to ask the club to help support a non-profit inner-city youth organization of which Trent is involved. Kevin said that Trent is asking that our club help by providing literature for Amateur Radio license classes.
 
      Kurt, W4KFH, reminded us that we are invited to the PSLARA BBQ October 22, 2011 at 11 am at the Prima Vista Marina.
 
      Kurt, W4KFH, told about amateur radio technician class licensing classes to take place October 29th and 30th at the SLC EOC. He said they have room for more attendees.
 
      Kevin, W4KKW, asked for comment about having a December meeting this year at which we will hold club officer elections. He said that we normally forego having a December meeting. The consensus was to have a meeting in December. Kevin said that we will take nominations at the November meeting.
