Hi from Pete Amar, KD4SPW.
Please don't forget that the MARCH OF DIMES WALK-A-THON takes place
this coming Saturday, April 19, 2008.
I could sure use all the help that I can get.
The walk starts at 8:30 am, with Hams arriving by 7:30 am or so. Some
of us will be there earlier to set up. It is a fairly short walk, usually
ending by 10:30 or 11:00 am.
The Walk starts and finishes in St. Lucie West at the dual campus of
IRCC and FAU. We and the festivities will be behind the building on the West
side, near the Southern end of the campus. We used to park our vehicles
behind the buildings, driving from the Southwest. But they have new
construction taking place in that spot now. It will probably be best for us
to park our personal vehicles in the same parking lot that the walkers use.
That should be very near to the South most parking lot of IRCC. There should
be signs directing the walkers to the parking lot.
Then we walk between the buildings to the back, between the 2nd & 3rd
buildings from the South.
Talk-in should be on 147.240 and 147.015. We will also try to monitor
147.345.
We can use plenty of Amateur volunteers this year as they have changed
the route back to what it was in previous years.
This means it will again travel along the North side of St. Lucie West
Blvd. There are 3 traffic light intersections to cross, with the most
dangerous in front of Wal-Mart.
The Walk is a lot of fun, especially when we have lots of help. Some
ride bikes, some park along the route, and when we have enough people, some
stay at the start/finish to show an Amateur Radio presence. Refreshments
will be served.
Greg, KB4VVE, will bring the EOC CSV ambulance, as in years past.
I invite everyone to attend. Let's make a great showing this year.
Thanks again, from Pete,
KD4SPW.
