             FORT PIERCE AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - MINUTES -  11/08/2006
 
      The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Pierce Amateur Radio Club was 
chaired by President Art Lindell, W4ZEF. Attendance was 19. 
 
      MINUTES: The minutes of the October meeting were approved as 
distributed, after motion by Herb, W1QPD, and second by Greg, KB4VVE.
 
      TREASURY: Treasurer Carl, KF4KCI’s report was approved as distributed 
after motion by Paul, KG4MCE, and second by Kevin, W4KKW.
 
                                                              OLD BUSINESS
    
      REPEATER:    Art, W4ZEF, said that Pete, AA4PN, reported that the UHF 
repeater did not identify itself during a 45 minute conversation that Art had 
with Randy. Art asked the repeater guys if they were aware of this problem. 
Kevin, W4KKW, said he had heard of a similar concern in the past, but never found 
a problem. Kevin said we still have a slight echo concern on the 2 meter 
repeater. Art said he noticed on the last night's net, that there was a beeping 
and a hum on some transmissions. Greg, KB4VVE, said that there is an intermod 
problem in the area affecting many frequencies and radio systems. Art asked Greg 
if the repeaters have been checked out with a service monitor.  Greg said not 
yet. 
 
      CLUB SOCIAL:   Art, W4ZEF, told of another club social to be held 
December 9, 2006, starting about 2pm. Carl, KF4KCI, said it will be a BBQ at his 
home again. He asked for members to use the e-mail list to tell what food dishes 
they will bring. We decided to have a gift exchange game. Carl asked that 
everyone bring one inexpensive gift. After discussion, we decided to not hold a 
regular December meeting on the 2nd Wednesday. If anyone has any club business, 
we can deal with it at the club social.
 
      VE TESTING:     Art, W4ZEF, said members need to upgrade their licenses 
and become VEs, to help at our VE TEST SESSIONS. Sherwin, KA9COD, started a 
discussion about extending a free one year club membership to testers at our VE 
TEST SESSIONS. Then, Sherwin made a motion that the club give to testers at 
our VE TEST SESSIONS, a certificate good for a free one year membership to the 
FORT PIERCE RADIO CLUB. This would include new licenses and upgrades. Ernie, 
KF4IHX, seconded the motion and it passed. Kevin, W4KKW, said he will make up 
the certificates to be awarded.
 
      Art, W4ZEF, told about an e-mail from Wayne, KA1VRF, about needing 
volunteers for the upcoming NWS SPECIAL EVENT. Art also mentioned that Wayne has 
been working on the PACKET and APRS systems and that we could use more people 
using PACKET and APRS. Art told of upcoming ARRL FREQUENCY TEST. Art, W4ZEF, 
told of some upcoming hamfests and tail-gate fests.
            
                                                          NEW BUSINESS
      
             Kevin, W4KKW, made a motion to increase our donation to WQCS to 
$250. Carl, KF4KCI, seconded and it passed. Carl said he would send the 
donation after the December CLUB SOCIAL. We discussed all the great benefits we 
receive from IRCC. 
 
      Sherwin, KA9COD, asked if we have considered incorporating our club. We 
discussed how well the club runs without incorporation and some of the issues 
incorporation would create. So far the members choose to not incorporate.
