Well, we are almost to Alaska! We are currently camped on the shore
of Kluane Lake, in the Yukon, about 100 miles from the border. We
entered Canada just north of Bellingham, Washington on June
5th. The border crossing went very smoothly. The officer in the
booth had a bit of an attitude, but the people inside were very
friendly and efficient. We spent our first night in British Columbia
at the Thousand Trails resort on Cultus Lake.

We have seen lots of animals along the way. At our second stop, at
Williams Lake, we watched a group of foxes playing in the field about
150 from our campsite. The next day we saw a female moose with two
calves and Toni was able to snap a quick picture. Since leaving
Dawson Creek (the start of the Alaska Highway), we have seen more
moose, several bears, lots of sheep and deer, a bison, and a very large wolf

We are constantly saying ooh and aagh, either from the wildlife or
the spectacular scenery. One of our favorite expressions is "You
don't see that in Florida." It has taken us a while to get here, but
the trip is definitely well worth it.

The weather has been perfect. We had lots of rain in Washington, but
once we entered Canada, the skies cleared and have been sunny ever
since. Temperatures are very comfortable with highs in the 70's and
lows are in the 50's. We are currently getting about 20 hours of
sunlight and the days are getting longer.

I'll try to get these travel reports out a little more often, but
don't forget that you can track us by clicking on the links below.

Until next time...
