[FoxHunt] ARDF Xmitter

Fortunately, if you'll remember our conversation several months back, I was
able to talk the distributor out of 10 of the ICS-501s, so I'm okay. I was
just thinking ahead to the future. As soon as funds allow, I'm going to get
off my duff and get around to putting them together. While we're on the
subject, what size surface mount capacitors did you use? There's so many
different physical sizes available, I'm not real sure which ones to get for
that. I'd kitted together some of the ICS-525 ones about 2 years ago, but
now I'm trying to help some folks get the -501s together.

The joys of frequent moves... Always donating my completed ones to the club
I just left.

I'm also looking forward to eventually putting together one of your
dopplers. I love the versatility of them!

Jack,

I have no immediate plans for a fox TX.
I am playing with a MAX267B bandpass filter. I feed it with a cmos555 clock
at
a 200X rate and get a 30 Hz bandwidth out of it, no phase shift with
amplitude
variations. Get a free sample from Maxim and try, it its a wonder.

I will probably make an improved doppler with it and the Roanooke filter,
also
I will use the new PIC18F252 that runs at 40 mHz, this one is made for C
compiler, it has more instructions and math build-in. I will re-use the
round
LED display along with a LCD for the menus.

I purchased a Mini-Circuit double balanced mixer with a built-in Mar
amplifier
to make a front end to a MC13135 FM receiver chip but Motorola does not make
them any more. This stuff is on the proto board doing nothing...

I am aving a hard time converting the local Hams from mobile hunts to ARDF,
that is why I was asking for a fox receiver or a kit or a plan to make one
to
ease foot hunting. Also I would like to bring local Scouts in the fun, but
most, including me do not want to loan our expensive handies or receivers.
