A lot of use the Ron Graham (VK4BRG) 2m receivers, and they
work reasonably well. Info on his web site:
         http://www.mackay.net.au/~ron
    or email: [email protected]

I mounted mine on my tape measure yagi and it works well
(especially if you take the time to get it well balanced
so your hand doesn't get tired holding it.)

One of the Dutch ARDF web sites has the diagram for a
well-designed receiver with several shielding compartments
(originally a Czech design.) One of the French web sites
has an interesting receiver using a pair of NE602's (one
with a 138 MHz overtone crystal, and the second with a
6 - 8 MHz tunable oscillator) feeding an LM386 audio amp.
Unfortunately, I don't have the URL handy for either site,
but I can find them. (Try the ARDF web ring.)

I also have paper copies of the following magazine articles with
    schematics for 2m DF receivers:

g) Bewahrter 2-m-Peiler DF2LM (CQDL 5/78 German) 1p
2m superhet RX using 6 xstr and 2 IC, with S meter

j) Gelesen und ausgewahlt DK2RS (CQDL 5/79 German; from F1DYF in Radio REF
4/78) 1p
       2m RX with 9 MHz IF using 3 IC's

l) 2-Meter-Handpeilempfangr HPE 2 DL3BBX (CQDL 8/91 German) 5p
       2m RX with IF filter and S meter. 5 IC's, 4 xstrs

m) Fuchsjagdempfanger fue 2 m DL5LQ (CQDL 10/82 German) 2p
2m dual conversion RX (10.7 MHz, 455 kHz) using 10 xstrs and 1 IC.
Subtitle: "A cheap RDF 2 meter FM receiver with broadened bandwidth and
       attenuator everyone can afford."

I'll be glad to send you copies of one or all if you are
interested - and if I can find the folder... really, I'm sure
they are on my desk here, someplace... Oh, yes, they are all
in German, which I don't speak, but the schematics should be
clear enough in most cases. If I can find them...
