[FoxHunt] Attenuator

I stopped by Radio Shack to have a look at the attenuator. As expected it
is 75 ohm and the maximum attenuation is only 20 db. It does present a
constant impedance and is specified out to 1000 MHz so it appears to be a
decent unit. But not suitable for fox hunting.
I, like most everyone else use a step attenuator and an active
attenuator. The active attenuator is similar to the one on Leggio's
site. Last year I bought the Ramsey TDOA fox finder system. It worked
so-so until a friend put me onto a mod to raise the supply voltage from 9
volts to 12 volts. I incorporated the change and it works like gang
busters. I have not used the active attenuator since. Watching the LED's
blink back and forth is a lot more fun.
