Despite Jones plugs having been made for half a century before mating plugs
were made on the Pacific rim, the new makers ignored Jones' pin numbering
and were used in Japanese ham gear.
The larger Jones plugs (400 series) seem to have been made so that the same
moulding could be used for 16 pin connectors or sawed down and used for 4
and 8 pin connectors as the pin numbers of the 4 pin run 13, 14, 15, and 16.
They date from long before WW2.
