Mike....
I had the same problem with the radio going dead.... (FT101B)
Al, NW2M has the right solution... contact cleaner on all the rotary
switches made the rig just like new again...
My radio had sat on a shelf for 12 years... while you have the covers off, a
good opportunity to blow all the dust and crap out of the radio too.... a
brand new 1 inch soft bristled paint brush helps...
also I used a black magic marker to mark the chassis with my call sign...
(can't see it with the covers in place)

> Just lately my FT-101EE receive goes out. I can just be setting there
listening and all of a sudden you hear nothing. At frist I thought it might
be a antenna connection but its not. When the signal drops out there is no S
meter reading and you hear no signal at all. Its like you have just taken
the rig out of the box, pluged it up and turned it on without the antenna on
it. Sometimes I can just key the mic once and the signals comes right back
up and then sometimes it takes keying the mic 2 or 3 times before it comes
back in. At first I thought it might be the relay in the final compartment
sticking so I replaced it and that wasn't it and then I changed the relay in
the main board and that wasn't it so now I am hoping someone here might
know.
> One more thing that I might mention, when you turn on the 25 KHz or 100
KHz signal calibrator I can just barely get a sound and no signal reading
at all.
