RE:clean signal
The dimensions of the 6BL6 are just about the same as the 6JS6C, and
the base pin arrangement is apparently the same. One thought I have
is if the 101 had problems with the small differences between the
Japanese and the American tube one can see all kind of interesting
problems with the 6LB6.
This is one of the reasons I tell people that are looking for
one of these hybrid rigs to get a Kenwood 520-530-820-830.
It's not that the FT-101 series is bad it's just the perception
I have of the 101 series not aging as well as Kenwood. My primary
HF rig is a TS-520SE running through an SB200 Heathkit amp.
I don't use the amp very often but thanks to the instant "ON" feature of the
572B's it's just a click of the switch away from feeding 500 to 600 watts
into the antenna. My Yaesu Twins, with the matching YO-100
monitor scope is a real looker, but it seemed like every time I move
the radios I had problems afterwards. I wasn't the units themselves, of
course, it was the !$@$@@%%##@@!!!!! external wiring harness. I want
the FL/SR101 back in service because I really like them.
