[ForSale-Swap] saw this computer

Was at a hamfest this weekend and talk about "frugal" there were mostly a bunch of "tire-kickers" and "guys with parrots on their shoulders".
Had a real good deal on microphones (about a dozen); desk mics, with PTT bar, Lo-Z dynamic, with a cord, but the only work involved was the one end of cord would have to be changed to rig's connector. They were $10 each and got very few offers at that price ... should have asked $30.
Yes, I still have a dozen or so.

Actually, you absorb their loss, as they write it off their
taxes and you get to pay more taxes to cover what they do
not pay.
It is the same as people who file for personal bankruptcy
or some of the other recent government-authorized schemes
for people and businesses to bail on their obligations --
it all simply dumps one person's irresponsible debt on to
their neighbor.
As a fellow frugal-Ham I prefer to buy used as the value
lost the moment a new rig or accessory has been removed
from the box is more than I care to absorb. OTOH, the new
(and non-transferable) warranty has a value for expensive
gear. It can be a tough call sometimes. We have several
computers and most of them are used (modified after purchase).
I strongly dislike HP for a variety of reasons, mostly for
known-defective products for which they refuse to compensate
customers (there is a several year long thread on their Forum
about one such case - which they have been stonewalling -
they don't care enough about PR to even remove the thread).
OTOH, they do make some cheap printers that get the job done
and they work with Linux. The LaserJet P1006 is great for
lots of B&W printing and the DeskJet 1000 j110 comes with a
full set of ink cartridges - you just toss the printer when
they run out and buy another one instead of new cartridges.
(The printer with cartridges is cheaper than the cartridges
alone. Yeah, I know, really wasteful - but I guess there are
people who are dumb enough to buy over-priced cartridges - so
that is where their profit is!)
